Business Analyst, Corporate Planning Calgary
The Business Analyst, Corporate Planning is responsible for providing the senior management of Inter Pipeline with professional, accurate and well communicated financial and business analysis. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Planning, the Business Analyst is a key member of Inter Pipeline’s Corporate Planning team and is the primary owner of the financial analysis and planning tools that drive corporate decision making.
This position will be closely involved with the activities of the Business Development group, Vice President, Corporate Development and the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Ownership of Inter Pipeline’s short and long-term corporate financial models which are key inputs into IPL’s strategic planning process
- Providing timely and meaningful analysis on potential acquisitions leading to a decision to move or not move forward with an acquisition project
- Play a key role on Inter Pipeline’s acquisition team with detailed, hands-on involvement in the valuation, structuring, tax and analysis areas. Also a key contributor to the preparation of key messages and presentation material for Inter Pipeline’s Board of Directors and the Canadian financial community
- Assist in major Treasury and Accounting projects as required
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Professional Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or someone who has a demonstrated strong financial analysis background and is actively pursuing their CFA
- Exceptional financial and business modeling abilities with a focus on ensuring the most meaningful outputs are achieved and effectively communicated
- Proven ability to incorporate a full set of financial statements into the financial modeling process is required
- Financial professional who has been involved in commercial projects and remains grounded in the fundamentals of project analysis
- Demonstrated ability to interpret financial and business analysis in a manner that can be communicated efficiently and effectively to the highest levels in the organization will be preferred
- Superior MS Excel skills
