Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Advisor

The Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Advisor is a professional role in the Environmental, Health, Safety (EH&S) and Compliance Group. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining and implementing programs that support Inter Pipeline Fund’s (IPF’s) safe, resilient and compliant operation. More specifically, the role develops, maintains, implements and monitors programs to promote industry–leading performance in emergency and business continuity management as part of IPF’s Operations Framework.

This position will be based out of our Calgary or Sherwood Park office.


Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Act as subject matter expert for emergency preparedness and response, crisis management and business continuity planning
  • Align emergency preparedness and response plans and business continuity programs with corporate and departmental strategies and initiatives
  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to ensure adequate emergency and business continuity preparedness throughout the organization
  • Track and communicate relevant regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
  • Maintain and update emergency preparedness and response and business continuity plans
  • Act as a member of the Corporate Incident Command and Crisis Management Teams
  • Ensure emergency facilities and equipment have adequate operational and functional capabilities and readiness
  • Plan and deliver emergency response, crisis management and business continuity training and exercises, assess them for opportunities to improve and lead improvement initiatives
  • Liaise with regulators, municipalities, and local emergency services to ensure response plans and roles are defined and coordinated
  • Track and report key performance indicators to IPF management

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the energy sector, and hold post-secondary certification in emergency and/or business continuity management
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and schedule work and activities for efficient use of time and resources
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Must possess and maintain a class 5 driving licence
