Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing general project management and detailed engineering support for a variety of pipeline and facility projects related to IPF’s Polaris oil sand diluent transportation system.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Work in close collaboration with internal IPF stakeholders such as Business Development, Field Operations and Technical Services
  • Develop cost estimates for newly proposed projects
  • Oversee the work of Engineering and Procurement companies during project design phase
  • Drive design review processes
  • Prepare PDI phase and gate documents for IPF management approval
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, with minimal environmental impact, within all rules, regulations and industry best practices, on budget, on time, and are an operational success

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta with a minimum of 4 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills are required
  • Certification in project management is an asset
  • The candidate must possess good communication (verbal and written) and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have a good working knowledge of engineering principles related to the pipeline industry and all applicable rules and regulations
  • Experience completing all aspects of a capital project including scoping, design, construction, and commissioning from an owners perspective would be beneficial
