Summer Student: Engineering
Cochrane Plant
Reporting to the Manager, NGL Extraction Engineering, you will be responsible for providing engineering support under the supervision and direction of a member of the engineering group at the plant. Predominantly the role will be catching up on the backlog of work items presently in the engineering group and performing data manipulation and other miscellaneous assistance for members of the group.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Preparing and completing MOC packages following the site MOC process for minor piping work
- Building some standard project spread sheets (cost control, contractor summary, travel sheet, specification deviation, extra work order, etc.). Providing cost accounting services for project managers through the summer, if required
- Assistance with preparing controls documentation
- Assistance with integrity program documentation, analysis and results reporting
- Assistance with updating of drawing redlines
- Cataloging group information and organizing files for the group
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in the Engineering program at a University. At minimum, completed the first year of the program
- Preference will be given to students in the Chemical or Mechanical Engineering disciplines
- Experience with AutoCAD will also be considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills are required
- A strong work ethic, self motivated, and dependable with a positive attitude
- A commitment to learning, safety consciousness and compliance with plant procedures is essential
A strong candidate will see their responsibilities grow over the summer with the goal to be able to assign the candidate work orders directly off the engineering list and have them completed.
