Summer Student: Instrumentation / Electrical

Reporting to the Instrumentation/Electrical Maintenance Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting in day-today tasks, under the general supervision of Electrical/Instrumentation personnel.


Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Changing bottles (helium cylinders) on a routine basis
  • Assisting with routine calibrations (e.g. gas detection)
  • Assisting with control valve removal
  • Updating drawings and relevant information
  • Equipment cleaning (e.g. DCS consoles, filter changing etc.)
  • General shop cleanup, light bulb changing
  • Assisting Instrument technicians and electricians on an “as needed” basis

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a technology or engineering post secondary education program and has, at minimum, completed the first year of the program
  • Physically fit as heavy lifting is required, as is the ability to work above ground level on occasion
  • Being mechanically inclined will be considered an asset
  • The candidate must possess a positive attitude, be self motivated and dependable, with a strong work ethic
  • Pleasant personality and positive outlook
  • A commitment to learning, safety consciousness and compliance with plant procedures is essential
