Senior Operations Technician

Bonnyville

The Senior Operations Technician, Pipeline Field Operations, Cold Lake Pipeline (CLPL), is responsible for assisting in supervising and the day-to-day operations of pipeline facilities and assets to meet the company’s strategic plan and supporting initiatives. More specifically, the Senior Operator is accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation, and reliability of the pipeline assets in the Bonnyville district of the Cold Lake Pipeline System. This position is based out of the Bonnyville field office.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operational activities, including but not limited to:
    o Mainline and lateral pigging
    o Weekly measurement equipment verification
    o Product quality determination
    o Month end cut off and custody transfer ticketing
    o Line locating, crossing inspection, AB first call
    o Weed control programs
    o Station house keeping
    o Supervision of contract operators
  • Work effectively in a team environment to ensure that routine operations are being completed effectively, monitor, log, and resolve operation and safety issues, assist with operational projects and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required
  • Participate in facility audits and inspections
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions
  • Assist with the investigation and closure of incidents and audit findings
  • Assist area Supervisor to schedule use of resources (people, equipment, materials)
  • Support the development of more consistent work practices in the area/pipeline system
  • Assist in the training of area staff as per the Inter Pipeline training plan
  • Field point contact for inventory control
  • Work schedule is  a 4-day work week, 10-hour days, subject to an on-call rotation

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior leadership experience
  • 5 years related pipeline field operations experience
  • Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Current H2S Alive, TDG and First Aid certification is also an asset
