Instrument / Operations Technician
Bonnyville

This position is located out of our Bonnyville office and reports directly to the Supervisor, CLPL. This position will be a combination of an Instrumentation Technician and an Operations Technician.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all instrument activities comply with industry and company standards.
  • Conduct maintenance and compliance checks on instrument related equipment for:
    • Pumps and Motors
    • Tanks
    • Measurement
    • Quality Control
    • Gas detection
    • OAS / VRU systems
    • PLC's
  • Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required.
  • Maintain current and accurate instrument drawings and as-builts.
  • Up grade and Install instrumentation equipment as required.
  • Ensure that all operational activities comply with industry and company standards.
  • Conduct maintenance and routine operational duties for:
    • Meter Proving
    • Month end cut off
    • Measurement
    • Quality Control Verifications
    • Pigging
    • Station and Mainline Valve sites
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to engineering for projects.
  • Support 24 hour on-call including weekend on-call rotation.
  • Ensure that all tools, testing equipment and assigned vehicle are in good operating condition.
  • Supervise contractors and ensure that safe practices and procedures are adhered to.
  • Act as a company representative and liaison with shippers, landowners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in safety and operations meetings

Experience, Education and Skills:

  • Instrumentation Technologist or Journeyman Instrument Mechanic Certification is required.
  • Must be willing to work in and support a healthy team environment.
  • Three to five years of instrumentation related oil and gas industry experience.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining pipeline related instrumentation equipment would be an asset.
  • Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Current H2S Alive, WHMIS and First Aid certification is also an asset.
  • Applicant must be willing to learn operational duties. Previous operational experience would be beneficial.
  • Journeyman electrician certification would be preferred but is not a pre-requisite.
