Mechanic / Operations Technician Fort McMurray
This position is located out of our Fort McMurray office and will report to the IPF Corridor Pipeline MEIO Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing safe, reliable and efficient operation of IPF's pipeline assets. This includes, but is not limited to, the day-to-day management of pipeline operations activities, as well as identifying and utilizing the right resources and systems to help manage and execute these activities. An understanding and commitment to EH&S policies and procedures, as well as compliance management from a regulatory perspective is expected. Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all mechanical/operational activities meet or exceed industry, company, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledgeable in operating standards, codes, rules, and regulations that impact mechanical maintenance and pipeline operations
- Support company EH&S program
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend enhancements to existing facilities to reduce operating risks and or costs
- Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required
- Develop and update safe work practices, procedures, and job task analysis
- Provide support to Engineering for projects
- Supervise contractors and ensure safe practices and procedures are adhered to
- Act as a company representative and liaison with shippers, landowners, contractors and vendors
- Participate in safety, operations and project meetings
- Support 24 hour on–call rotation (seven day rotation)
- Ensure all tools, specialized equipment, and vehicle are in good operating condition
- Perform day to day maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment including:
- main line centrifugal pumps (including laser alignment and vibration analysis)
- diesel generators
- assorted valves and actuators
- meters, and QC equipment
- annual servicing of relief valves
- small rotary gear and positive displacement pumps
- gasket and seal replacements
- minor pipefitting
- Perform operational duties:
- perform routine pigging operations
- perform strainer maintenance
- perform routine inspections of station sites and mainline block valve sites
Experience, Education, and Skills:
- Alberta or Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright or Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required
- Minimum of Grade 12 Education is required
- Must be willing to work in and support a team environment
- Minimum of five years of mechanical experience related oil pipeline industry
- Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position
- Must possess and maintain a valid class five driver's license
- Current H2S Alive, WHMIS and First Aid certification is an asset
- Applicant must be willing to learn and perform operational duties. Previous operations experience would be beneficial
