Network Administrator Calgary
This senior-level position is located in our Calgary office and reports directly to the Manager, Information Technology. As a member of our Information Technology team, the successful candidate will be responsible for administration, maintenance and design of IPF's network and server environments.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain server and network environments to ensure effective and efficient performance
- Design and implement network design, server farm design, clustered applications and disaster recovery plans
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Identify opportunities for network growth and scalability with recommended courses of action to support the current and future goals of the organization
- Work with project teams in the design, development and review of technology solutions
- Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage the purchase of hardware and software products
- Manage small- to medium-sized projects according to budgets and schedules
- Support the departmental budget process
Education, Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in a Network or System Administrator role
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in computer science or technology field
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on expertise with Cisco (switches, ASA), including planning, design, and implementation, in an intermediate- to large-scale network
- Must have CCNA certification
- CCA certification (or equivalent years of experience) is an asset
- MCSE or MCSA certification is an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008
- Experience with Citrix NetScaler technology design and operations
- Familiarity with virtual environments
- Knowledge of mass storage platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team-oriented skills
- Able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment
