Electrical / Instrumentation Operations Technician Sherwood Park
This position is located out of our Sherwood Park office and will report to the IPF Corridor Pipeline Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing safe, reliable and efficient operation of IPF's pipeline assets. This includes, but is not limited to, the day-to-day management of pipeline operations activities, as well as identifying and utilizing the right resources and systems to help manage and execute these activities, an understanding and commitment to EH&S policies and procedures as well as compliance management from a regulatory perspective.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Day to day maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of electrical power, control equipment, SCADA systems, flow computers, and PLC systems

Maintenance and repair of Variable Frequency Drives and Uninterruptible Power Systems

Maintenance, repair and installation of electrical and instrumentation related equipment

Coordinate annual electrical inspections, including updates to QMP coordinator

Coordinate annual instrumentation inspections

Assist with high voltage maintenance
-
LOTO of electrical equipment for energy isolation

Conduct operational activities such as operational projects and routine operations such as: meter proving, quality control sampling, station operation, pigging, sampling, monthly cutoff, etc

Assist other IPF departments with engineering projects, hazops, equipment reviews, technical recommendations and equipment installations

Perform routine inspections of pump station sites and mainline block valves

Emergency preparedness and response

Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required

Abide with and support IPF policies, standards and guidelines, including all safety, health and environmental rules as regulatory compliance

Supervise contractors and ensure that safe practices and procedures are adhered to

Participate in safety and operations meetings

Participate in an on-call rotation
Experience, Education and Skills:
-
Alberta or Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician/Instrumentation certification is required
-
Preference will be given to candidates possessing dual tickets (Electrical and Instrumentation)

Three to five years related electrical/instrumentation experience is required

Demonstrated proficiency with electrical and instrumentation equipment
-
Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position

Must be willing to work in and support a healthy team environment

Must possess and maintain a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
-
Applicant must be willing to learn and perform operational duties. Previous operational experience would be beneficial

Current H2S Alive, WHMIS and First Aid certification is also an asset
